A new BBQ place right by my house?! Looks like I'm gonna be gaining some a few pounds. Dicky's BBQ is a chain of restaurants that originated in Dallas, Texas, and now we finally have one here in Fort Collins. I had only tried the Chain about 3 months ago when i ate at one near my mom's house. Walking in your greeted with this great smell of smoked meat. The ordering layout is similar to many other fast casual restaurants. You place your order at the start of the line you pay at the end. When I went it did take a wile to get my food, but it looked like they where processing a pretty big catering order at the same time so I'd assume it'll be a little faster next time i go. The staff is super nice, but unfortunately the receipts they use don't allow you to tip. The eating area is huge and could probably fit around 75 to a 100 people in there no problem. It was really quiet in there too, I think i would have preferred it if they turned their radio up slightly, but i was taking the food home anyways. The decor is kind of what you would expect a BBQ place to look like, southern style wallpaper and lots of wood. The food was quite good. I almost always get pulled pork when i eat BBQ and theirs was nice and tender. The meat was smokey but not as smokey as I've had at other places. I actually really like the level of smokiness because it doesn't overpower the flavor. The buttered bun they give you for the sandwich is good too. I got my sandwich without the onions or pickles, because who needs em'? I made one big mistake though getting food here, I was so excited to eat i left with out grabbing any BBQ sauce but luckily I had some at home. I remember last time i ate at a Dicky's they had 2 BBQ sauces, a sweet one and a spicy one. I liked the spicy sauce, hated the sweet one. I'm glad they offer two sauces though, I don't like Texas style BBQ sauce so I'm happy they have another option. I wish the chain had a South Carolina style mustard BBQ sauce because those are my favorite. They have a pretty decent list of side options to go along with your meat. Wile browsing the side menu I noticed that they had waffle fries, which is awesome. Because Waffle Fires. Are. Awesome. I went ahead and ordered them and they were pretty good, better than chick fil'a's waffle fries. After i placed my order, i noticed on the menu they have this salad with a buncha of crazy stuff in it. Its got all kinds of meat and onion rings on it and it looks awesome. Its probably the most unhealthy salad ever, but it looks tasty. One of the most attractive things about Dicky's are the prices: $5.50 for a pulled pork sandwich is pretty fair. It's about $2-4 less than other BBQ places around town and i think the food is completely on par with the other BBQ places in town as well, making it a pretty good value if you ask me. Dickey's Barbecue Pit is a pretty worth wile place to eat and I'm glad there's one by my place now. I'll definitely be back for that salad and the affordable sandwhiches.

This is a BBQ chain but oh man, is the food great here! The Ft Collins location has some seriously good smoked turkey. Lots of happy customers while I was there and friendly helpful staff to make suggestions. The food was amazing and I encourage you to dine here if the desire for BBQ overwhelms you. If it doesn't, simply drive slowly by with the windows down and take a deep breath...1...2..3...and it's time to visit Dickey's! My son thought I was crazy when I told him to turn around and go back...the BBQ bug had bitten.

Service is not what it used to be, and its pretty over priced anymore. Tonight we ordered through order up and there was a mistake on the site. Instead of calling us and asking what we wanted to do they picked the crappiest options because "the driver was already [there]". They called us after the driver had left to tell us it was order ups fault (which it was) and that there wasn't anything they could(would) do about it. When we got the food they hadn't even given us everything they were supposed to. Our $6 salad was a heap of crappy lettuce with a tiny bit of cheese on it. Our $9 sandwich was soggy bread with half a sausage link and a couple tiny pieces of turkey which didn't even cover the bread. We were even missing one of the sides we were supposed to get (order up let us order 5, we were supposed to get 3, we actually got 2). Up until today we preferred to eat here, in no small part because the first time we ordered from them there was a mistake and the owner drove to our house to bring us the rest of our order and free dessert as an apology. Apparently now two cheap sides and a drink is more valuable than a long time customer so I think we'll go with one of the many other BBQ places in town after tonight. Serious Texas is better anyways...

No! No! No! This is barely food let alone BBQ. I ordered the Westerner sandwich with cold dry turkey and stale beef add a piece of cold cheese and a sliver of onion and you have a "BBQ Sandwich". The sides are equally of poor quality. Never again!

We got a three meat plate to split- all of our meat choices were pretty good however, the joint is a little over priced.

I love BBQ and this place has pretty good food at a decent price. Haven't been overly impressed with the ownership and some of their interactions with customers.

The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the owners are great people. Really looking forward to trying more items on their menu (especially the ribs). By the way, the twice baked potato casserole side is delicious!

We went in for dinner tonight. The service was really friendly. I went with a pulled pork sandwich, my staple for judging any BBQ place. The meat was really tender and juicy and the sauce went well with it. I thought it was a bit small for the price but by the time I was done, I couldn't finish my fries. There are several things on the menu that I'd like to try later. They have free ice cream!! What's not to like?

Wanting to try something new, my family and I ventured into Dickies. We love BBQ and had our hopes up to enjoy good food for dinner. The staff was very friendly, the place very clean. That's where the goodness stopped. We ordered a "family" meal which was supposed to feed 2-4. It included 3 sides. The sides were in small cups that were maybe 12 ounces each, hardly enough to feed 4 people. The ribs were dried and meatless. There was maybe 3 ribs in the entire rack that had meat on them. The only thing that was good was the jalapeño cheese sausage and the sodas but even then it was so overpriced it was ridiculous. Not only were the portions too small for the price but everything was flavorless. We all dumped more salt, pepper and BBQ sauce than I would have considered healthy. We paid over $55 for a meal that would feed 2. I'm glad we tried it as we've frequently driven by and said we wanted to check the place out but we won't be going back.

Who doesn't love BBQ? Dickies is a good choice for this particular apetite, but you might find that it feels a bit corporate compared to some of the more local joints in town. They have lots of seating and a big screen to watch whatever game is going on if you want to eat in. The food options are your standard choices such us pulled pork, beef brisket, etc. I have eaten here a few times and each time I've really enjoyed the food. They meat is tender and smokey. They have a few options for sauce but all of them are really good. The prices are fair. The service is congenial, but not impressive. I'll be coming back, but I'm not blown away or anything. There are a couple of local places that could smoke ribs better than these guys, but I recommend that people give them a try.

Just noticed them open in midtown recently, decided I'd go in for one of their fairly cheap sandwiches. It's a nice setup, a space that reminded me of a larger Moe's as far as lighting and structure goes. I had the beef brisket sandwich. It wasn't bad, but it didn't floor me. For the price, it's a decent deal, but I've had better meat, bread, and sauce at other places in town. Give it a try, maybe you'll find something that I didn't.

Ate dinner here 10/21/14.Had a coupon and No Hassle at all.The owner was extremely nice as were the employees we came into contact with. We had sliced Brisket, St Louis Ribs, Bake potato casserole and waffle fries.Everything was Top Notch! There was not 1 piece of fat on our brisket. It was so tender. The ribs were cooked perfectly. Come off the bone but not just fall off in one big piece. We used the Original sauce. It has a peppery kick,Perfect ! I know it's a chain,we have eaten at about 5-6 different Dickey's around and about. But believe me when I say you won't eat a better BBQ meal than we had tonight anywhere in this region of the country .

Being from Texas and a huge BBQ fan and somebody that has been smoking meats for well over a decade as well as attending competitions, I am usually a fan of anything having to do with BBQ. Dickey's however, is one of those rare exceptions. I'm going to go easy on them because they're newly opened and I'm just going to assume that the people working there just haven't figured out how their smoker works. Now that being said, you should at least be able to remove the plastic from your brisket prior to serving it (found a price of clear plastic in mine, see pic). Plastic wrap is a sure sign that something has sat in a fridge overnight or longer. Being a hardcore BBQ-er from Texas I judge a place by its brisket. Dickey's brisket sucks ass, there's just no nice way to put it, (see included pic). Forget the traditional biased slices, my plate was just a pile of shit that resembled pulled pork more than brisket, there was actually no knife work at all, if you look at the pic you'll clearly see that the brisket had been pulled, not cut. This is basic stuff, brisket because of where it comes off the cow is by its very nature very stringy and tough. You MUST cut it against the grain to break up the stringy fibers of muscle. Where their brisket really ate shit was in the moisture and flavor departments. The whole point if smoking meat is to impart the flavor of the smoke. I suspect they're using a light wood like hickory or apple but there isn't even a hint if smoke flavor or smell so who knows. Furthermore, a fringe benefit of smoking meat is that you end up with a very moist piece of meat where the fat has rendered evenly throughout the meat (low and slow anyone?). The "meat" I got was dry and cold, as if it were left overnight in a fridge and the edges had been dried to the point where I would call it jerky. Another problem (a BBQ cardinal sin) was that there was still connective tissue (think chewy). This is the reason for aging meat and why you pay $5 for a steak at the store vs. $30 for an aged steak at a steakhouse. But wait, there's more! The Mac and cheese a perfect copy of Kraft's goo cheese that comes in the boxes of shells and cheese. The beans are, you guessed it, flavorless. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty decent but compared to others around town it's still a solid last place looser. I dunno, I use the stars as an indicator of how likely I am to return and to me 1 star means no way in hell, but the staff was super nice and the free soft serve is cool. So maybe there's hope, they did just open and having opened several restaurants myself in the past I realize there are some initial screw ups and a lot of staff turn over. 1 star is rough based on only one visit but its well deserved. I'll give it a few months and then try it again and revise accordingly. ************************************************ UPDATE: SQUARE TURKEY! (see pic) Well, I vowed to give it another chance now that it's established and it still totally blows! I cannot believe how bad this place is. After another shitty meal that was nearly inedible, I can honestly say that this is the single worst BBQ in N-Colorado. I ordered turkey which, it turns out is simply processed 'turkey' in a deli pack that they smoke. In other words their turkey is the same type they use in deli counters, where the turkey (the left over parts after the good parts are removed to be sold as unprocessed chunks) is ground up and squirted into a plastic bag to be sold to delis where it's sliced for sandwich meat. This place takes one of those and smokes it and then serves it as 'turkey'. What a fucking joke, how lazy and cheap of a BBQ place can you be when you can't even serve actual turkey breasts? Smoking a real turkey breast is just as easy as the way they're doing it but their using shitty fake meat to improve their margins even more than their super high prices already do. The best part is while I was walking out the counter kid asked how awesome it was and I showed him my turkey (which I didn't eat) and said "this turkey really sucked", the two owners (man and lady) where right there watching this and didn't say anything. A good owner/manager would have instantly jumped on the chance to make it right or at least get more feedback but that's par for the course for this restaurant. So I said I'd try it again and having done so it's still a one star and is still the single worst BBQ place in N-Colorado. A quick drive to either side of Fort Collins will yield pretty damn BBQ (but far from awesome) from 'Serious Texas BBQ' so save yourself the suffering and go there instead... (it's cheaper too).

Dry BBQ. There's no way around it. Only somewhat redeeming quality is you can smother it in the BBQ sauces they keep in a warmed pot in the corner.

NOT GOOD! Food tasted processed like it just came out of a bag or can. Service was OK at best... even the manager lady was bringing the whole vibe down. You could tell the staff was not having fun because of it. I will not be returning to this establishment! I love BBQ, and was very disappointed with this experience!

Good BBQ with a competitive price. Ribs are great and getting them in a combo is a plus. Kids eat free Sundays makes it affordable for the whole family. Bring back the yellow cup and save a buck. Course I like the 20 I have at home! Watch the staff at checkout. They often don't pay attention to what you're ordering and don't ring it up correctly.
